Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated that Ramadan Month is the right momentum to strengthen the spirit of national togetherness after the dynamics that occurred during the 2024 elections.

"Ramadan is the right momentum to strengthen our friendship, the brotherhood between Muslims, between nations, and between people," Amin remarked while delivering a speech at an event to welcome Ramadan, as monitored from Jakarta on Thursday.

He affirmed that Indonesia is a plural nation. He believes that this situation should be taken into account and taken care of, so it can become a matter of pride.

"The Indonesian people have just passed the 2024 elections. Thank God, it was carried out safely and peacefully," Amin stated.

He remarked that elections can result in differences in choices and views, but people must not let elections affect the ties between fellow Muslims and fellow citizens.

According to Amin, Indonesia needs strong ties of brotherhood to continue to move forward and face various challenges and problems amid the uncertainties.

"Humans do not know the future, but we must continue to strive and be kind to all of God's creations," he stated.

Amin invited the event participants to make the most of the momentum of Ramadan as a means of self-reflection and evaluate all the good and bad that had occurred.

"Moreover, humans are created by God, so we need to depend on and take refuge in God," he added.

The event was held at the Al Jauhari Islamic Boarding School in Garut, West Java.
