The minister made the statement at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, in connection with the president's plan to begin working from the future capital city once the construction process of a VVIP airport and toll road had concluded.
"Water supply is also a crucial aspect in addition to the operations of the airport and toll road. Hence, we target to start operating water infrastructure (in IKN) in June and the toll road and airport in July," Hadimuljono remarked after an internal meeting chaired by President Widodo on Wednesday.
The minister explained that completion of the development of basic infrastructure and facilities is expected to help ensure the success of the government's plan to hold the ceremony for the 79th Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day in Nusantara in August.
"God Willing, we will hold the ceremony on August 17 in the new capital. By that time, the president will have been working from there," he pointed out.

The PUPR Ministry's Executive Task Force for Infrastructure Development in IKN has been building two drinking water processing plants (IPAs) to ensure ample supply of drinking water for IKN residents.
"Once they begin operations, the two IPAs will supply drinking water, with a total capacity of 600-700 liters per second, to IKN Nusantara," head of the executive task force Danis Sumadilaga noted in November last year.
According to Presidential Regulation No.63 of 2022 concerning details on the IKN Nusantara masterplan, the development of IPAs is aimed at providing and processing safe and sufficient drinking water supply.
The government is aiming to ensure that the IPAs are interconnected, so that the water supply will not be disrupted in the event of one of the IPAs not operating.
