"The projected figure is an increase compared to 123.8 million travelers recorded during last year's Eid holiday," he informed during a weekly press conference, which was followed online from Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said that the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry has been coordinating with regional governments and relevant stakeholders to ensure the preparedness of tourist destinations ahead of the holiday.
"We have been in coordination with regions, stakeholders, and management of tourist attractions to ensure proper preparations for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday," he added.
The minister further highlighted that train passengers are expected to account for 20.3 percent of the total 194 million projected travelers, bus passengers 19.4 percent, private car users 18.3 percent, and bikers 16.07 percent.
He then outlined the predicted originating destinations of travelers, saying that 16.2 percent of them are expected to travel from East Java, 14.7 percent from Jakarta and its surrounding areas, and 13.5 percent from Central Java.
Regarding the most popular destination provinces, he pointed to Central Java, East Java, and West Java, which are predicted to be visited by 61.6 million, 37.6 million, and 32.1 million travelers, respectively.
As Central Java is expected to draw a host of visitors during the holiday, Uno urged his ranks and stakeholders to ensure that all tourism destinations, including Borobudur Temple, are well-prepared according to the cleanliness, health, safety, and environment (CHSE) standards.
