Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has outlined plans to leverage the penta-helix approach for developing tourism and the creative economy in Indonesia's new capital city, Nusantara (IKN).

"In order to stimulate developments in the tourism and creative economy sectors in IKN, we resort to a strategy that aims for sustainable and quality tourism by adopting the penta-helix approach," he said during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

He explained that the penta-helix approach fosters collaboration between academicians, media outlets, the central government, regional governments, businesses, and local communities.

Uno revealed plans to meet with the tourism and creative economy communities, encouraging their active participation in developing the new capital, currently under construction in East Kalimantan.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will highlight the appeal of Nusantara's tourist and creative villages to promote environmental sustainability within the tourism and creative economy sectors, he said.

He noted that the government envisions Nusantara as a distinct tourist destination, considering that it is being developed along the lines of a forest city that places high importance on quality and sustainable tourism activities.

"The trends of tourism and creative economy in IKN will refer to the concepts of quality and sustainability," he said.

Uno suggested that travelers visit IKN to enjoy the attractions offered by various destinations, such as Pampang Cultural Village, which offers beautiful views of a tropical forest and traditional houses, and Tanah Merah Beach, which has white sand and pine trees.

He also mentioned Mentawir Mangrove Tourism Village, Mahaling Tourism Village, and Tapak Raja Cave as attractive options for visitors.
