"We will expand the public kitchen in the Ganting Mudik Utara Surantih village, Sutera sub-district," Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini said here on Thursday.
She said that the necessary tools for the Ganting Mudik Utara Surantih public kitchen would be provided by the Pesisir Selatan Social District Office.
While visiting the flood- and landslide-affected site, she spoke with women cooking in the public kitchen. Local residents asked for more kitchen equipment to increase the number of ready-to-eat foods.
"Additional equipment is being delivered to the main location of the public kitchen. Meanwhile, we do not have problems with the foodstuffs," she said.
Rismaharini added that she would not increase the number of public kitchens and would prefer to focus on adding cooking equipment and food ingredients at the main public kitchen in Ganting Mudik Utara Surantih.
She said that adding public kitchens at other locations would require more effort, including preparing human resources.
The public kitchen in Ganting Mudik Utara Surantih is sufficient, as food distribution to Batu Bala and Langgai villages is easier from the kitchen, she added.
"We can distribute the logistics by motorcycle. It is not too difficult," Rismaharini said.
The ministry has carried out a number of emergency response measures to help flood and landslide victims in Pesisir Selatan.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Health, Dante Saksono Harbuwono, said that his ministry has set up a mobile health post for flood victims.
