The ministry's Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, Nasrullah, in a statement here on Sunday, said his side had reviewed the availability of eggs and chicken meat in the Lenteng Agung and Pasar Minggu Markets in South Jakarta.
"An inspection to the Lenteng Agung and the Pasar Minggu markets in South Jakarta shows that these two commodities are available and remain guaranteed, despite facing price challenges due to the rising demand," he said.
Nasrullah said that the market inspection was carried out according to the Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman's directive.
His directive is to seriously pay attention to food availability and efforts to stabilize it during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri.
Earlier, the ministry together with the House of Representatives (DPR) had monitored the availability of some essential goods including beef, chicken meat, and eggs at the Cikopo Main Market and the State Logistics Agency's (Bulog) Ciwangi Warehouse in Purwakarta, West Java.
Based on the validation of prognosis data on the availability of beef and buffalo meat carried out by the relevant ministries and agencies, the national purebred chicken eggs in March 2024 experienced a surplus of 125 thousand tons, purebred chicken meat at 170 thousand tons, and beef/buffalo at 67 thousand tons.
For this reason, Nasrullah continued, the Agriculture Ministry continues to collaborate with various parties to monitor food availability including meat and eggs.
"This is an effort to maintain the people's food consumption especially for those who are fasting and who will celebrate Eid al-Fitr this year," he said.
