The president made the statement during a visit to the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) Kampung Melayu Warehousing Complex in Singkawang City, West Kalimantan, on Wednesday.
The president paid a visit to review the availability of rice and hand over food assistance to the beneficiary community.
"Later, I will check our APBN again. If it is there, then it will be continued after June, but I cannot promise this,” he remarked.
He explained that if the budget can accommodate the program longer, the government will continue it until December.
Ayu, one of the aid recipients, expressed gratitude for the government’s food assistance that helped fulfill her family's daily needs.
"I am so happy. It is very helpful amid the increasing food prices. The rice price is quite high, so this assistance is very helpful for (meeting) the needs of my household," she remarked.
Another recipient, Maswah, stated that this assistance eased her burden while expressing hope for the assistance to continue.
"I really hope (the assistance) can continue because this really helps us, and we really need it," she remarked.
Meanwhile, Paijan, a construction worker, expressed a high level of enthusiasm about meeting and shaking hands with President Jokowi while stating that the food assistance had helped him, as his income was unstable.
The food aid distribution reaffirmed the government's commitment to helping ease the burden of the underprivileged.
The program is expected to continue and have a positive impact on more people in the future.
