Kendari (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, on Thursday, inaugurated the Islamic Economy and Finance Committee (KDEKS) of Southeast Sulawesi Province to stimulate sharia economic growth in the region.

Southeast Sulawesi's KDEKS was the 25th regional committee inaugurated by Amin as Chairman of the National Committee of Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS).

"Today, in Southeast Sulawesi, I launched the 25th KDEKS," he remarked in a press conference in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi.

In his speech, the vice president deemed the newly inaugurated committee as being highly instrumental in accelerating the development of a suitable ecosystem for the country's Islamic economy and finance.

He said the KDEKS of Southeast Sulawesi is expected to become an engine that drives the province to achieve progress in the Islamic economy.

"A KDEKS is of the essence to create a sharia economic ecosystem in the motherland. Regional committees will stimulate the Islamic economy in regions. Without a regional committee, the sharia economy will not run optimally," he stated.

Amin then highlighted his plan to inaugurate more KDEKS in other regions as an effort to expedite the penetration of the Islamic economy and finance in every corner of the country.

"Next week, we will (launch KDEKS) in West Kalimantan and North Sulawesi. We hope that we will be able to continue (inaugurations) until October. That way, all regions will host a KDEKS," he pointed out.

KDEKS constitutes one of the supporting infrastructures needed to develop an Islamic economic ecosystem in Indonesia.

As an institution, KDEKS serves as a catalyst expected to accelerate the development of the Islamic economy and finance in regions, with the end goal of leading Indonesia to become a world center for the halal industry.
