Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo described the upcoming friendly match between Indonesia's volleyball team and South Korea's Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks as a breakthrough for the sports industry.

At a press conference in Jakarta on Friday, he said that the "Fun Volleyball" match on April 20, funded by the Sports Business and Funds Management Agency (LPDUK), is part of the agency's transformation into a venture capital provider for the sports industry.

"This is actually a promotion to transform the LPDUK into a kind of financing institution, specifically for the sports industry," he explained.

He said that through the LPDUK, his ministry is seeking to encourage the sports industry ecosystem, which could help increase sports achievements.

"And at the 'Fun Volleyball' event, we will present the Indonesian All-Star women's team against Red Sparks," he added.

The friendly match, which is scheduled to take place at Indonesia Arena in Jakarta, is also part of the 2024 Proliga opening.

"We chose Indonesia Arena because we want to test volleyball matches there. Hopefully, it will be full of spectators so that later, the Proliga can also be held at Indonesia Arena," Ariotedjo said.

He said that the Indonesian national team's preparations were complete to face the South Korean club, which was strengthened by a player from Indonesia, Megawati Hangestri.
