Manpower Minister's Circular Letter No, M/2/HK.04/III/2024, stipulating that this year's THR should be paid no later than a week before Eid al-Fitr and cannot be paid in installments.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, on Wednesday, called on private companies to immediately fulfill their employees' Eid al-Fitr allowance (THR) right to conform with the deadline determined by the government.

"THR should not be ignored. Otherwise, employers will be sanctioned. Hence, I would like to urge private employers to pay attention to this matter," he remarked in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan Province.

Amin made the statement during a press conference held after the inauguration of the Islamic Economy and Finance Committee (KDEKS) of West Kalimantan at the West Kalimantan Governor's Office.

The vice president noted that the payment of THR, as governed by employment regulations, is meant to maintain harmonious relations between companies and their employees. Hence, to this end, he appealed to employers to abide by the regulations by immediately disbursing Eid THR that their workers deserve.

"This (THR payment) is also meant to maintain sound relations between business actors and their employees. This is mutually beneficial. No employers should ignore this," he affirmed.

Earlier, the government had issued Manpower Minister's Circular Letter No, M/2/HK.04/III/2024, stipulating that this year's THR should be paid no later than a week before Eid al-Fitr and cannot be paid in installments.

Hence, the circular indicates that employers should pay THR on April 3, at the latest.

Meanwhile, sanctions to be imposed on employers failing to pay THR in full are outlined in Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021.

Based on the regulation, the sanctions could be imposed in the form of a written warning, restriction on business activities, and suspensions of business activities.

Acting West Kalimantan Governor Harisson, Acting Executive Director of the National Committee of Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) Taufik Hidayat, and Vice Presidential Special Staff Masduki Baidlowi accompanied VP Amin during the press conference.
