Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Sjarifuddin Hasan, said that the government has thoroughly prepared supporting infrastructure for Eid al-Fitr this year.

"I am sure that this year's homecoming and return trip can run smoothly and safely because the government has prepared the infrastructure well," he stated in a written statement issued here on Monday.

Before Eid al-Fitr, Muslims living in big cities usually return to their hometowns, he noted.

He informed that the authorities will apply the one-way and contraflow traffic schemes during the Eid exodus and return flow this year.

He then advised people to avoid traveling during peak hours.

Earlier, the Transportation Ministry said that transportation infrastructure is ready to support the homecoming and return flow during Eid al-Fitr and prevent traffic jams.

"Our infrastructure is ready and some of the transportation operators can predict how much volume will move," special staff to the Minister of Transportation and spokesperson of the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, said last week.

At an iftar meal in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (March 31, 2024), he said: “I would like to thank the people who have taken the time to stay in touch and break the fast together.”

He expressed the hope that the spirit of gathering and togetherness can continue to be maintained, and people receive blessings, mercy, and guidance from God.

He also invited people to express concern for others in the month full of blessings so there are no more lives left behind.
