Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency Head (ATR/BPN), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, and acting governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, declared South Jakarta as a city with complete land mapping on Tuesday.

"This is the commitment of the central government, through the Jakarta provincial government or through the Ministry of ATR/BPN, to be present so that the community can obtain their (land) rights, certificates, and the processes faster," he said while delivering a speech at City Hall here.

According to Hartono, the declaration is a form of the government's commitment to accelerate land certification. He said he believes that electronic certificates can improve accuracy and the security of land rights.

Meanwhile, Minister Yudhoyono said that with the declaration, South Jakarta has joined three cities in the Jakarta area that have complete land mapping — West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Central Jakarta. East Jakarta will soon declare completion of land mapping.

According to the minister, one of the benefits of complete land mapping is that it would help in regional planning.

If a local government applies electronic services fully, it will find it easier to carry out regional planning, such as making tax policies based on the mapping, he explained.

"So, if the entire Jakarta area is declared as having complete (land mapping), it will ease local governments in carrying out spatial planning policies as well as taxation," Yudhoyono added.

He added that the effort follows President Joko Widodo's direction to him when he took charge as a minister about one and a half months ago. At the time, Widodo instructed him to speed up the digital transformation of agrarian affairs.
