"Meanwhile, we have temporarily stopped the contraflow for Eid exodus flow and are waiting for the next evaluation process," the head of Polri Traffic Corps, Inspector General Aan Suhanan, informed at the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road KM 58, later on the same day.
The accident, which occurred on KM 58, involved three vehicles — a Primajasa bus, a Daihatsu GrandMax, and a Daihatsu Terios.
The Daihatsu Terios and Grandmax were burned in the road mishap.
According to Suhanan, the accident occurred when a car traveling from the direction of Jakarta passed the contraflow lane on the Cikampek Toll Road near KM 58.
The car swerved and hit a bus bound for Bandung-Jakarta. Another car tried to dodge the first car but failed and rammed into it.
"We express concern for the recent accident that resulted in deaths and two vehicles burned," he said.
He informed that vehicles coming from Jakarta will be directed to the "group A" category, namely South Cikampek, to reduce the burden on the Cikampek Toll Road.
Suhanan also reminded motorists to check the condition of their vehicle before traveling and ensure the driver's health.
Drivers must concentrate while driving, be careful, obey traffic signs, not carry passengers and goods beyond the capacity of their vehicle, and rest if they feel tired, he said.
"For drivers, prepare your physical condition and vehicles, if you are tired, please stop, do not force it because it is dangerous, so please pay attention to your health," he added.
