Manokwari (ANTARA) - Celebrations of the 2024 Eid al-Fitr have been running in a safe, smooth, and orderly manner in all regions of the provinces of West Papua and Southwest Papua, the West Papua Regional Police stated.
"Based on observation, the condition in the two provinces during this year's Eid al-Fitr moments remain conducive. No significant disruptions witnessed," head of the regional police's public relations Grand Commissioner Ongky Isgunawan remarked in Manokwari, West Papua, on Friday (April 12).
Isgunawan noted that the conduciveness had been the result of preventive measures taken by the police, such as early detection, appeal to people to maintain order and security, and intensified patrols.
Isgunawan also extended his office's appreciation to several community organizations and religious institutions for taking part in ensuring security from Eid eve until the holding of the Eid prayer in all cities and districts in the two provinces.
"We would like to thank the public, figures, and all elements for collaborating with the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and Polri (National Police) to maintain public security and order," he stated.
The police officer then noted that over one thousand joint personnel had been deployed to implement Operation Ketupat Mansinam 2024 in West Papua and Southwest Papua for 13 days, starting from April 4 until April 16.
In detail, the West Papua Regional Police dispatched 345 officers to the operation, while the rest of the joint personnel came from various resort police in the two provinces as well as some other institutions.
The resort police are Manokwari Police, South Manokwari Police, Teluk Bintuni Police, Teluk Wondama Police, Kaimana Police, Fakfak Police, Pegunungan Arfak Police, Sorong City Police, Sorong District Police, South Sorong Police, Maybrat Police, Raja Ampat Police, and Tambrauw Police.
"As many as 329 personnel from other institutions are also taking part in Operation Ketupat Mansinam 2024 to ensure security during Eid al-Fitr," he concluded.
