Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta commuter railway operator, PT KAI Commuter Line, stated that the company is taking corrective steps in handling a commuter train derailed at a spot between Kampung Bandan and Rajawali commuter stations in North Jakarta.

The KA 5508 commuter train operating on Kampung Bandan-Cikarang via the Pasar Senen Station line was derailed near WTC Mangga Dua, a shopping mall in North Jakarta, approximately at 7 a.m. Jakarta time, according to the company's External Relations & Corporate Image Care Manager, Leza Arlan.

"(All passengers) have been evacuated from the carriage to a safer location. No casualties in the incident," Arlan stated here on Saturday.

Rescue officers are still taking corrective actions on the derailed carriage, he revealed, adding that only one railway track could be operated due to the incident.

The company manager noted that to ensure the line remains operational, PT KAI Commuter Line decided to adjust the routes for Cikarang/Bekasi-Kampung Bandan via Pasar Senen Station line and Cikarang/Bekasi-Kampung Bandan via Manggarai Station line.

"The operations should be adjusted because only one railway track is operational," he stated.

Meanwhile, to ensure travel safety and facilitate rescue officers during corrective work on the derailed carriage, the KAI Commuter Line ordered the speed of trains crossing the incident site to be adjusted.

The company also urged commuter railway passengers to follow instructions of on-site and security officers, he added.

"PT KAI Commuter Line apologized for any inconvenience (caused) on the Kampung Bandan-Rajawali section of the railway line," he remarked.
