If you wish to avoid long queues on the road, you should consider postponing your return trips.
Karawang, West Java (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Muhadjir Effendy, appealed to civil servants to postpone their return to the Jakarta-Bogor-Tangerang-Depok-Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area to avoid heavy traffic.

"Civil servants deciding to postpone their return trips will ease our tasks," he said at a press conference in Karawang district, West Java province, on Monday.

He noted that the peak of this year's Eid return flow is likely to be reached on Monday evening, adding that the postponement of return travel would help the government tackle vehicular congestion over the next two days.

Effendy also urged civil servants to make the most of the two-day work-from-home policy implemented by the government.

"To civil servants who have no urgent businesses (in Jabodetabek), you can use the two-day period to work from your hometowns," he said.

Meanwhile, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi pointed to the relatively high V/C ratio on Sunday (April 14, 2024) evening, which refers to the comparison between the number of vehicles on a road segment and the capacity of the road.

"The V/C ratio last night stood at 0.8, crossing the normal level," he informed.

The minister stressed on the need for travelers to take the V/C ratio into consideration before deciding to join the return flow.

"If you wish to avoid long queues on the road, you should consider postponing your return trips," he advised travelers.

Earlier, state-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga recorded 961,852 vehicles returning to the Jabodetabek region during the April 10–14 period.

The figure is a cumulative one for vehicles crossing the four main toll gates — Cikupa (from Merak Port), Ciawi (from Puncak Pass), Cikampek Utama (from Trans Java Toll Road), and Kalihurip Utama (from Bandung).

The total volume of vehicles returning to the region during the Eid return flow is 41.03 percent higher than the volume on normal days (681,996).
