Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Embassy in Seoul stated that the opening of coffee shop Toko Kopi Tuku in South Korea aims to help increase Indonesia's exports.

Trade Attaché Eko Prilianto Sudrajat said in a statement on Wednesday that the government continues to support the endeavors of Indonesian business actors to expand overseas to market their products.

Chargé d'Affaires Zelda Wulan Kartika stated that Toko Kopi Tuku's objective is to explore business opportunities in South Korea for coffee products and brewing equipment.

With the coffee shop, businesspersons can witness consumer enthusiasm and study consumer behavior.

Moreover, this is used to obtain local market information and build local community networks to introduce and promote the richness of Indonesian coffee culture in South Korea.

South Korea was chosen as the expansion destination based on the local people's coffee drinking culture.

According to the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), South Korea imported coffee worth US$11.2 million from Indonesia in 2023.

In the 2019–2023 period, coffee imports experienced an average increase of 3.85 percent, demonstrating that the South Korean public has a penchant for coffee products from Indonesia.
