Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) reiterated its commitment to seeing through all stages of the 2024 General Elections, including by ensuring security for the Constitutional Court (MK) to announce the verdict on the election dispute hearing.

"The Polri is staying true to its commitment to escorting the democratic processes of the general elections until the end," Head of Polri's Public Information Bureau Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko remarked in Jakarta on Friday.

He highlighted that the police has been conducting Operation Mantap Brata 2023-2024, which kicked off in October 2023 and will conclude in October this year, as an effort to make the elections a success.

"This operation will continue to target people's activities related to stages of the elections until October this year," he stated.

He remarked that under the operation, Polri has formed several task forces entrusted with taking preemptive and preventive measures as well as conveying relevant information to the public.

Based on ANTARA's observation, the security apparatus placed concrete barricades around the MK Building and cut off road access to the building with iron fences.

Earlier, the Registrar of the MK revealed that the reading of the verdict on the election dispute would take place on April 22.

According to Article 50 of MK's Regulation No. 4 of 2023, the court must determine the verdict on an election dispute hearing within 14 days after the lawsuit is recorded in the Electronic Constitutional Case Registration Book.

The MK began deliberations to determine the verdict on the dispute on Tuesday (April 16).

Spokesperson to the MK Fajar Laksono has affirmed that the court had been maintaining its independence while dealing with the election dispute.
