"Hopefully, the preparedness of security personnel and train services will ensure that all train homecoming travelers get the best services,"
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Chief of the National Police (Polri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General Agus Subiyanto inspected Eid exodus flow at Pasar Senen Station, Jakarta.

During the visit, Minister Sumadi asked state-run railway company PT KAI to anticipate bad weather-triggered landslides likely to occur on routes crossed by Eid homecoming travelers, such as roads in southern Java.

"Please, anticipate (bad) weather since it can lead to landslides in several regions, especially Garut, Tasikmalaya, and Purwokerto. To that end, it is necessary to deploy a team," he remarked on Saturday (April 6).

The minister also urged KAI to pay equal attention to the conditions of both infrastructure and facilities in order to provide a higher level of service and security for train passengers.

He then instructed the company to ensure that all service posts erected along train routes are functioning properly.

General Prabowo, for his part, underlined the importance of tightening traffic security measures at level crossings to provide the finest service to homecomers.

"Hopefully, the preparedness of security personnel and train services will ensure that all train homecoming travelers get the best services," he remarked.

Meanwhile, General Subiyanto observed that KAI needs to pay close attention to the substitution of rail officers to ensure constant monitoring of rails and crossings.

"It is important to anticipate the pause in monitoring during the substitution of officers," he stated.

Also present during the inspection, KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo told the minister and generals that his side had taken various preparatory measures for welcoming and serving train homecomers.

He said the measures include inspection on train facilities and infrastructure, services provided at stations and during trips, as well as the preparedness of employees.

"We hope that train homecoming travelers will have joyful and meaningful trips," he stated.
