Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) is making a road map to advance education in the new capital city, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan.

Alimuddin, OIKN Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment, said on Saturday that the road map is targeted for completion in May.

The OIKN has facilitated training to increase the capacity of teachers in student-oriented learning in collaboration with the East Kalimantan government and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

Alimuddin said that Nusantara teachers will be given the freedom to form a new education system that does not conflict with the philosophy or foundation of education in Indonesia.

"The OIKN wants teachers in Nusantara to become 'guru penggerak' (movement pioneer teachers)," he emphasized.

He added that the education policy in Nusantara will use the independent learning program, which is more concise and simple, so that students become better at learning and concurrently develop talents and interests.

Meanwhile, Wiwik Setiawati, Head of the East Kalimantan Movement Pioneer Teachers Center, expressed her hope that the presence of the new capital city will provide local people access to education and improve the quality of local teachers.

"Because the portrait of education around Nusantara is currently still far from expectations," she said.
