"The assistance provided is packages of mattresses, blankets, towels, masks, mats, medicines, baby diapers, food, and drinks," Head of BI North Sulawesi, Andry Prasmuko, stated here on Tuesday.
Prasmuko is optimistic that this assistance would assuage the suffering of Tagulandang Island residents affected by the eruption.
He remarked that the assistance was immediately handed over to the Gunung Ruang Disaster Command Post located at the North Sulawesi Governor's Office.
Explosive eruptions were recorded at Mount Ruang since April 16, 2024, after an increase in seismic activity.
On the same day, the mountain's status was changed thrice, from normal to standby, alert, then to emergency.
During the period of April 1-17, 2024, PVMBG recorded 1,439 deep volcanic earthquakes, 569 shallow volcanic earthquakes, six local tectonic earthquakes, and 167 distant tectonic earthquakes on Mount Ruang.
