Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the blockade and ransacking of humanitarian aid from the international community for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip perpetrated by Israel.

In a social media post on Thursday, the ministry pointed out that the free manner in which Israeli extremists blocked and destroyed humanitarian assistance reflected Israel's reluctance to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza by obstructing its distribution in various ways.

"This action should be duly prosecuted, and steps must be taken to ensure that it does not happen again," it said.

Acknowledging the importance of humanitarian assistance in the lives of the people in Gaza, Indonesia's Foreign Ministry urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to seek guarantees from Israel for the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid.

The delivery of humanitarian aid is also important to prevent the worsening of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

Israel's right-wing extremist groups blocked an aid truck convoy at the Tarqumiya border crossing on Monday and destroyed humanitarian aid destined for Palestinians in Gaza.

Videos published on social media depicted the extremists flinging and treading over packages of food that they pushed away from the aid trucks.

One of the videos showed an Indonesian instant noodle product as one of the packages of food ransacked by the extremists.

Israel's aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has killed more than 35,100 civilians, mostly women and children.

According to the UN, the aggression caused the displacement of 85 percent of Gaza's population, damage to 60 percent of Gaza's infrastructure, and severe food, clean water, and medicine scarcity.

Despite the pressure exerted by the international community, Israel persisted in restricting the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The restriction exposed hundreds of thousands of the population in Gaza to the threat of acute starvation.
