Under the Proud of Indonesian Products National Movement (Gernas BBI), the government is targeting 30 million MSMEs to enter the digital ecosystem by the end of 2024.
"In addition, we are also pressing for the transaction target of Rp50 billion (around US$3.11 million) in each province to be achieved," he said via video at the "Harvesting Gernas BBI-BBWI 2024 of South Sumatra Province" here on Sunday.
Pandjaitan noted that the level of spending realization for ministries, institutions, regional governments, and state-owned enterprises had increased by 80 percent, from Rp749 trillion in 2022 to Rp1,349.8 trillion in 2023.
This, he said, shows their compliance with the local product spending requirement. He also reminded all ministries, institutions, regional governments, and other government institutions to reach the target of 95 percent local product spending.
As for the Proud to Travel in Indonesia (BWI) movement, he noted that the trips of domestic travelers to South Sumatra alone in January 2023 reached 9.6 million, or an increase of 1.9 million compared to the same period in 2022.
He underlined that there are three things that must be done to boost the BBI and BWI movements, such as increasing promotion training for local MSMEs and tourism players as well as encouraging MSME product innovation and digitalization.
Apart from that, the intellectual property rights of MSME players also need to be protected.
On that occasion, he expressed appreciation for the "Harvesting Gernas BBI-BBWI 2024 of South Sumatra Province" event, which is held together by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the South Sumatra Government from May 24 to 28, 2024.
He invited all stakeholders to maintain the continuity of the BBI and BWI movements for the progress of MSMEs, artisans, and tourist destinations.
Pandjaitan noted that the success of those national programs could be achieved with the collaboration of all parties.
