"Hopefully, a trial (for the trackless trains at the IKN) will take place in August," he remarked on the sidelines of the opening of the 19th Intelligent Transport System Asia Pacific Forum 2024 in Jakarta on Tuesday (May 28).
Sumadi noted that the government had yet to allocate a portion of the State Budget (APBN) for the development of ART.
He also revealed that the scheduled activity in August would merely serve as a trial rather than a commercial one.
"We have not planned on a commercial (train trip), and the development is yet to be funded by the APBN. It will simply be a trial trip," he pointed out.
The minister said batteries and magnets would power the autonomous trains that would be imported from China.
