"It could be that the new president will choose them later, but what is clear now is that there is no discussion at this time," VP Amin noted in a press statement after reviewing the Sermayam sugarcane plantation in Merauke District, South Papua, on Tuesday.
Amin remarked that until now, no talks had been held with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the appointment of the definitive head and deputy head of OIKN.
"There has been no talk about who will replace (former head of OIKN Bambang Susantono)," he remarked.
However, Amin said that in the meantime, the president has appointed Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Raja Juli Antoni to handle matters related to Nusantara.
Meanwhile, the VP admitted to being unaware of the reason behind the resignation of the former head and former deputy head of OIKN. According to Amin, resignation is a common thing.
"I do not know the reason. Mr. Pratikno (Minister of State Secretary) did not explain it to me. I think it is normal in our development process that some people will retreat and some will be replaced," he remarked.
On June 3, State Secretary Minister Pratikno announced the resignation of OIKN Head Bambang Susantono and OIKN Deputy Dhony Rahajoe.
Following up on this, a Presidential Decree (Keppres) has been issued today appointing Hadimuljono as Acting Head of OIKN and Antoni as Acting Deputy Head of OIKN.
The president called on Hadimuljono and Antoni to ensure that Nusantara's development is expedited as best as possible.
