Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) said that cement supply for the development of the new capital (IKN) has not been disrupted by the resignations of the head and deputy head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN).

Chairperson of the association, Lilik Unggul Raharjo, said that he only learned about the resignations from the media on Monday.

"Regarding the cement supply to IKN, it will not be disrupted," he assured in Jakarta on Monday.

Raharjo said, the construction of IKN has been determined by law, so it will continue.

"I think the IKN development project has been determined in law, whoever leads it, I think the IKN development will continue," he stated.

The need for cement for IKN construction has reached around 1 million tons per year, he informed.

"IKN requires around 1 million tons of cement per year," he stated.

He added that as long as IKN's construction continues, cement, as a construction material, will continue to be needed.

"Supply is still running smoothly. IKN construction is still ongoing, so cement will definitely still needed," Raharjo said.

Minister of State Secretary, Pratikno, announced the resignations of the head of OIKN, Bambang Susantono, and the deputy head of OIKN, Dhony Rahajoe, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

Following their resignations, a presidential decree was issued on Monday, appointing the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, as the acting head of OIKN.

The decree also appointed Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR), Raja Juli Antoni, as the acting deputy head of OIKN.

The President asked Hadimuljono and Antoni to guarantee the acceleration of development as far as possible, in keeping with the vision of the Nusa Rimba Raya plan to provide positive benefits for the community. (INE)
