According to a statement released by her office here on Wednesday, the minister is scheduled to convey Indonesia's commitment at the plenary session of the conference, which will discuss the report of the director general of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
According to Fauziyah, Indonesia fully supports the conference, which is being held from June 3–14, 2024. She described it as a forum for bolstering commitment and cooperation in manpower-related issues among member states of the ILO.
"The ILC constitutes a crucial moment for us to voice the aspirations and interests of Indonesia at the international level. This event can contribute to the formulation of just and sustainable manpower-related international standards and policies," she stated.
She added that the Indonesian delegation is participating in the conference to convey the country's regard for workers' protection, equality, and economy.
The minister informed that the annual conference has drawn participation from governments, business actors, and labor unions from 187 ILO member states.
Fauziyah expressed the hope that Indonesia's active participation in the ILC would lead to the conference ending with results that could have a positive impact on global and domestic manpower issues.
The Indonesian delegation, she added, is striving to demonstrate its active role in creating better and fairer work conditions for workers across the globe.
Meanwhile, the secretary general of the Manpower Ministry, Anwar Sanusi, said that the 2024 ILC, themed "Towards a Renewed Social Contract," has several other agendas in addition to the plenary session.
The agendas include the Asia-Pacific Group Ministers' Meeting, the election of the ILO's Governing Body, and the inauguration of the Global Coalition for Social Justice.
Furthermore, the ILC will also commemorate World Day Against Child Labour on June 12.
