Depok, W Java (ANTARA) - The Board of Trustees (MWA-UI) of the University of Indonesia (UI) released 78 names of persons who cleared the administrative selection for a committee for recruiting and filtering qualified candidates for the new UI chancellor's post.

Out of the 78 people, 13 will be selected to become committee members tasked with recruiting and filtering qualified candidates for the post of UI chancellor for the 2024–2029 period.

In determining the 78 persons, the MWA-UI was assisted by the Special Committee for UI Chancellor Election, or locally known as "Pansus Pilrek," according to UI's press statement received on Thursday.

They include 21 UI lecturers, nine UI graduates and community figures, 21 UI academic staff, 14 UI undergraduate and vocational students, and 13 UI postgraduate students, the statement disclosed.

Pansus Pilrek chairperson, Professor Bambang Wibawarta, said that the public is encouraged to give feedback about the 78 candidates for recruiting and filtering the committee's membership.

"We appeal to the public to give feedback about them at selection.ui.ac.id by scanning their IDs and evidence from June 6 to June 8 at 1 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB)," he remarked.

The 78 candidates include Ade Arsianti, Albert Patrick Roring, Anna Erliyana, Ardi Findyartini, Awang Ruswandi, Delly Ramadon, Elvia Rosantina Shauki, Mangapul Parlindungan Tambunan, and Mochamad Fahlevi Rizal.

According to Wibawarta, 13 selected members of the committee will officially commence their work on June 24, while the registration for candidates for the new UI chancellor will start on July 15.

The UI, whose main campus is located in Depok, West Java, has been adjudged the best university in the country. In the annual ranking of global universities released by Webometrics in January 2023, UI was named the best university in Indonesia.

UI Chancellor Prof. Ari Kuncoro noted in a recent statement that the university has maintained its commitment to becoming an innovative, independent, inclusive, dignified, and leading higher educational institution in Southeast Asia and the world.

One of the efforts to globalize education and research has been pursuing collaborations with reputable overseas universities.
