Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has asked Indonesians who plan to travel during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday to prioritize security and safety.

"There will be a long holiday on the weekend during Eid al-Adha from June 15–18, 2024. Let us continue to pay attention to the aspects of security and safety," the ministry's expert staff, Nia Niscaya, said at a weekly press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

She also asked tourists to continue to pay attention to rules and prohibitions at tourist destinations to create a safe, comfortable, and fun travel experience.

Furthermore, she asked tourist destination managers to apply the appropriate management techniques or standard operating procedures (SOPs) if a destination starts to get crowded with visitors.

The step is aimed at ensuring that the security and safety aspects of the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) standards can be observed consistently.

Tourist destination managers have also been asked to prepare evacuation routes as a mitigation measure to ensure that visitors have a pleasant time and create interesting experiences so that they visit again in the future.

Meanwhile, people who plan to travel on public transportation such as tourist buses have been asked to pay attention to the safety of the vehicle, including checking the vehicle's license, evidence of the bus passing a ramp check, and the availability of security accessories such as seat belts.

Ensuring the driver has the required documents, has enough rest time, and there are adequate places for rest for the driver have also been deemed necessary.

"The rest hours for the driver of tourism vehicles must be paid attention to," she stressed.

Ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has issued a letter to tourism and creative economy players to prepare to welcome tourists, she added.
