The joint security officers from the police, army, and Jakarta administration secured all routes that at least 15 thousand runners coming from 32 countries passed through during the race, the police revealed.
According to Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Senior Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, all deployed personnel did not carry weapons as they applied a humanistic approach for the event.
As part of security measures for the JAKIM 2024 to ensure that it ran in a peaceful and orderly manner, the police carried out traffic engineering to manage traffic flow on certain roadways from 02.00 a.m. to 12 noon.
The roadways getting affected by the traffic engineering were centered in such areas as Sudirman-Thamrin, Medan Merdeka, the National Monument or Monas, and Rasuna Said, Condro said.
Therefore, for those wanting to travel around Jakarta during the race, he suggested that they choose alternative routes. He also cautioned the marathon enthusiasts to watch out for phone thieves and pickpockets.
Parents carrying kids to watch the race the Jakarta provincial government held to commemorate the metropolitan city's 497th Anniversary should also be careful with their beloved, he said.
