"This ransomware is the latest development of the LockBit 3.0 Ransomware. This ransomware is continuously evolving. Based on forensics analysis carried out by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), this is the latest sample," the head of BSSN, Lieutenant General Hinsa Siburian, remarked in Jakarta, Monday.
The government, through cross-agency coordination between the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, BSSN, POLRI Cyber Crime, and Telkom Sigma, is currently continuing to investigate this cyberattack, he remarked.
Efforts, such as investigations and digital forensics, continue to be carried out, with all-out endeavors to overcome these cyberattacks, Siburian revealed.
"We are thoroughly investigating the forensic evidence obtained with all the limitations of the evidence. (It is) because the evidence is encrypted," he noted.
Meanwhile, Director General of Applications and Informatics at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, highlighted the steps taken by his side, namely by isolating data, to handle cyberattacks at PDNS 2.
"Regarding security, we have succeeded in carrying out quarantine or isolation in the infected areas," he stated.
The government also continues to restore various public services affected by the disruption at PDNS 2. Currently, managers of the affected services are continuing to conduct data migration.
Some of the services that have been restored include those from the Directorate General of Immigration such as visa and residence permit services, immigration checkpoint services (TPI), passport services, Visa on Arrival (VoA) services, Visa on Boarding (VoB), and immigration document management services.
Moreover, services of the Policy Institute for Procurement of Goods and Services (LKPP), the Electronic-based Event Permit Service belonging to the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, as well as the public services of the Kediri city government have also recovered.
