Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Azerbaijan have agreed to take their cooperation in public service acceleration to the next level, State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN RB) Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas announced on Monday.

According to a statement received from the PAN RB Minister here, the agreement was marked by the signing of the "Action Plan on the Acceleration of Public Services" during a meeting with representatives of the Azerbaijani State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (VXSIDA).

Anas informed that under the two-year action plan, Indonesia and Azerbaijan will jointly carry out several projects, such as workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, as well as activities aimed at improving the implementation of public services.

The minister added that under the action plan, the two countries will exchange notes on the steps they have taken to augment the quality of their public services.

He noted that Indonesia and Azerbaijan have been cooperating in the public service sector since 2017, when the former established a public service mall (MPP) by drawing inspiration from Azerbaijan's integrated public service system called ASAN Xidmt, which has received recognition from the UN.

"Indonesia replicated this best practice by inventing MPP. Currently, there are 277 MPPs in Indonesia," he said.

Anas added that the Indonesian government is currently developing digital MPPs with the objective of providing greater convenience to people in accessing public services.

Meanwhile, VXSIDA chairperson Ulvi Mehdiyev lauded Indonesia for replicating ASAN Xidmt and noted that the bilateral cooperation in the public service sector between Indonesia and Azerbaijan has been productive.

He also expressed Azerbaijan's keenness to continue intensifying the cooperation to assist Indonesia in implementing digitization in the public service sector.
