During a discussion entitled "Take Control, Overcome Migraine" in Jakarta, he informed that migraine is not ordinary head pain, and can cause disability.
In the 2019 Global Burden of Disease study, migraine was reported as the second-highest cause of disability in the world for both men and women.
Studies have shown that more than one billion people globally have experienced at least one migraine episode in their lifetime, and about 148 million of them have struggled with chronic migraine.
In view of this, Tugasworo emphasized the importance of all stakeholders paying attention to migraine management, including creating a supporting environment for migraine sufferers, especially in the workplace.
Perdosni has collaborated with several stakeholders, including the Health Ministry, the Manpower Ministry, and the Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association, to promote prevention, early detection, and treatment of migraine.
"We expect that the government can help boost the early detection of migraines, and to improve the ability of doctors in health primary services to carry out migraine detection, as well as realize a supportive environment for migraine sufferers," Tugasworo said.
On the same occasion, the chairperson of Perdosni's head pain working group, Devi Ariani Sudibyo, said that migraine affects 11 thousand to 12 thousand per 100 thousand people in Indonesia.
