Head of the Indonesian contingent Del Asri said on the sidelines of the AUG 2024 closing ceremony at Malang State University here on Saturday that he was thankful for the achievement.
The Indonesian contingent did not only obtain the general champion target but many Indonesian athletes could also get record-breaking achievements.
"Alhamdulillah (thank God), as the head of the contingent, I am very thankful for the hard work of athletes, coaches, and all parties," he said.
Secretary General of the Ministry of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Suharti also lauded the performance of the Indonesian contingent.
She underlined that, apart from medal achievement, the most important thing is the good cooperation between the participating countries.
"There is good news that we are spreading across Indonesia and the world that the AUG 2024 has run well," she remarked.
On the same occasion, the President of the ASEAN University Sports Council (AUSC) Prof Mohd Ruslim Mohammed stated that the AUG 2024 in Indonesia could be a reference for the country that will host the multi-sports event in two years.
"The first thing that I want to say is marvelous. In the convening of AUG, usually, one university is used as a venue for all sports. However, in Indonesia, it involved nine universities in two cities, namely Surabaya and Malang," he remarked.
Furthermore, he said, 11 countries participated in the event, which was held from June 25 to July 6, 2024.
"This AUG marked history where delegates from 11 countries participated in every sport. Previously, only a few delegates participated in each sport, but now many people participated," he said.
