"One of the collaborations we are carrying out to expand international market access and integration into the global supply chain network is with the Dutch CBI," director of source access industrial power and international promotion (ASDIPI), Syahroni Ahmad, said at a press conference on Friday.
The scope of the collaboration covers training and export assistance in three sectors — seaweed, plant extracts, and essential oils, Ahmad added.
The application is for food products, food supplements, and also cosmetics.
"This is one of the activities we have been working on since 2019, where 2024 will be the last year," he informed.
The ASDIPI director chaired the second meeting of the Natural Ingredients Sector Steering Committee on May 27, 2024.
The meeting was held to coordinate with stakeholders on the implementation of cooperation with the Dutch CBI to increase the export competitiveness of the natural ingredients sector in Indonesia in 2019– 2024.
The meeting discussed the development of the Natural Ingredients program, brand governance of Indonesia Natural Ingredients, market entry plans for 2024, theStrategic Export Marketing Plan Sub-Sector Plant Extract and Essential Oils document, as well as several activities in 2024.
The final draft of the SEMP Plant Extract and Essential Oils document was also handed over by both parties.
Both documents contain an overview of the sector, market conditions and trends, strategies and action plans, so that they can later serve as a guide for industry players from both sub-sectors in exploring the European export market.
As a follow-up to the meeting, regarding brand governance, discussions will be held on other aspects of the governance structure.
The ASDIPI Directorate will coordinate with sector supervisors to obtain inputs on SEMP Plant Extract and Essential Oils.
This year, it will optimize the assessment of joint financing for participation in Food Ingredients Europe (FIE) 2024, which will be held from November 19–21, 2024 in Frankfurt, Germany.
