Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has emphasized the importance of developing strategies and innovation to increase efficiency and punctuality at every stage of the logistics process.

In a statement released here on Friday, he said that logistics challenges are becoming more varied, in keeping with the development of technology and the dynamics of the global market.

On Thursday, the minister served as a key speaker at the Federation of International Freight Forwarders Associations - Regional Asia-Pacific (FIATA-RAP) Meeting 2024 and the meeting of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) in Bali.

According to him, attention to logistics efficiency is being consistently prioritized. Business players need simple and integrated interactions with one command.

"This is a common challenge and requires support and collaboration between government and private logistics platforms, which are integrated into one efficient system," he explained.

According to the minister, a lot of progress has been made. For example, from an institutional perspective, state-owned enterprises (SOEs) have improved systems, mechanisms, and technology.

Likewise, in the private sector, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is providing intensive support to the industrial sector, not only at the conceptual level but also in applications in the field.

"The government cannot do it without the support from the private sector," he stressed.

He further said the National Logistic Ecosystem (NLE), which is the government's concrete step to boost logistics efficiency, has been built.

Sumadi expressed the hope that the NLE can synchronize the flow of international goods and document traffic from the time of arrival until they reach the warehouse, including licensing and completion of shipping documents, which have been integrated into a single submission system.

He added that to support NLE implementation, his ministry is continuing to make efforts to improve services through InaPortNet. Currently, the InaPortNet system has been implemented at 264 ports.

According to the Transportation Ministry, InaPortNet is a part of the Indonesia National Single Window launched by the government to expedite the entry of ships into ports, loading and unloading activities, and departure of ships from ports, which can significantly affect the length of time of containers at ports.
