"It has reached harmonization. What is left to do is finalizing the action plan," deputy for special protection of children at the ministry, Nahar, informed in Jakarta on Friday.
The ministry is targeting to complete the draft presidential regulation this year.
"The key is the strategy to carry out prevention, strengthen collaboration, cross-sectoral cooperation, and handling," he added.
The draft regulation is a form of the Indonesian government's effort to protect children who are highly vulnerable to violence online.
It covers three strategies for online child protection, including a strategy to prevent the misuse of information and communication technology against children online.
The focus of the strategy includes risk control through key interventions, such as identifying, screening, and cutting off access based on risks and dangers, including preparing policies related to electronic system provider (PSE) governance to implement child-friendly information technology design mechanisms.
The Road Map on Child Online Protection has been created so that ministries, agencies, and regional governments would have guidelines for carrying out online child protection efforts.
More than 16 ministries and agencies have been involved in creating the draft presidential regulation.
The regulation is expected to become a reference for stakeholders for reducing online violence rates and increasing cross-sectoral collaboration in the country, according to Nahar.
