According to a statement from the Health Ministry received here on Monday, the nutrition services cover promotive, preventive, and curative measures; thus, they take into account some aspects, such as personal metabolism needs, health improvement, and rectification of metabolism deviations.
"It is also to push for better recovery process so the pilgrims can continue the Hajj procession," Person in Charge for the KKHI Nutrition Unit Sri Dalyanti stated.
Dalyanti explained that the services include planning a standardized pattern of the menu, performing nutrition screening and assessment for sick pilgrims, as well as expediting education and counseling about nutrition to ensure they are better informed.
"The nutritionist will visit inpatients to disseminate education to the pilgrims and to ensure that the pilgrims consume the foods offered," she remarked.
She explained that the nutritionist will also intervene for the patients, such as by setting nutritional values, modifying diet type, and increasing meal frequency.
Moreover, the dietitian will coordinate with supporting health personnel, who prepare the food, in formulating menus and special diets, she revealed.
Dalyanti stated that the dietitian will also order food from catering services that meet the set quality, amount, and specification and check the foods before distributing them.
She remarked that if the food failed to meet the criteria, it would be returned, and a new one would have to be provided in its place. The nutritionist also prepares food in accordance with the patient's diet and ensures that the quantity can suffice to feed the pilgrims.
Dalyanti appealed to pilgrims currently being treated at the clinic to consume the foods provided, which were tailored to their daily nutritional needs.
"Pilgrims are also asked to consume more vegetables and fruits and increase their intake of water," she noted.
