Jakarta (ANTARA) - Nickel Industries has granted scholarships to 10 students from Central Sulawesi to continue their undergraduate education at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

The managing director of Nickel Industries, Justin Werner, congratulated the ten students from Morowali District, the operational area of the company, who have received full scholarships to pursue their undergraduate degrees at Unhas for the next four years.

"I am honored to be present at the welcoming ceremony and congratulate you on your success in obtaining a full Nickel Industries scholarship in 2024,. You are future leaders, innovators, and change-makers who will shape our world, and we are proud to invest in all of your potential," he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday. The 2024 Nickel Industries Scholarship is a fully-funded scholarship to support the future leaders of Morowali, Central Sulawesi, in pursuing higher education at Hasanuddin University.

The scholarship not only aims to help students financially so they can study at the best universities in Indonesia, but also shape talent, provide opportunities, and encourage innovation through holistic educational experiences, he said.

The Nickel Industries scholarship awardees represent Bahodopi and Bungku Pesisir Morowali districts and will pursue several majors such as Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Accounting and Law.

The 2024 Nickel Industries scholarship is expected to become a good baseline for mining companies in Morowali and Indonesia to support good education for the younger generation through an affirmative scholarship scheme with universities.

"As Nickel Industries scholarship recipients, the ten selected individuals will be responsible for excelling academically, contributing to the community, and upholding the values of integrity, sustainability, and innovation. We are sure that you will take advantage of this opportunity and make a significant contribution to Morowali in the future," Werner said.
