"BNPT has presented its best impression through its personnel's works that have successfully ensured the safe organisation of the 2024 General Elections," he stated.
Speaking at the opening of the National Museum on Counterterrorism and inauguration of the Indonesian Anti-Terror Association, as observed online on Tuesday (July 16), Tjahjanto attributed the success to the BNPT's multisectoral approach.
The approach involves the government, academics, entrepreneurs, the public community, and the media, he said, adding that the agency has worked effectively from 2020 to 2024 to prevent terror attacks in Indonesia.
He further pointed out that 2023 had been a terror-free year. Apart from this achievement, the positive record does not mean that terrorism threats have been entirely eradicated in Indonesia.
The BNPT data and Setara Institute research in 2023 indicated that terrorism radicalisation incidence among women and teenagers surged.
"This should be our common concern and 'homework' in realising the 2045 Golden Indonesia Vision," Tjahjanto emphasised.
The coordinating minister affirmed that the government will exert its work to ensure the safety of Indonesians from terror attacks as a peaceful and safe condition is a requisite for national development.
Hence, he expected the anti-terror agency to continue working effectively and vigilantly to prevent potential terror attacks in Indonesia.
"We understand that it is not an easy task. We need courage, tenacity, prudence, as well as cooperation from all relevant parties for it," Tjahjanto remarked.
