Jakarta (ANTARA) - An official from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture stated that the one-hour without gadget movement could build mental revolution in the family.

"Parents can disconnect from their devices and accompany their children. One hour without a gadget is not only for sleeping but also for socializing and interacting with children," Warsito, the ministry's Deputy for Coordination of Mental Revolution, Promotion of Culture, and Sports Achievement, stated on Thursday.

In the run-up to the commemoration of National Children's Day (HAN) on July 23, 2024, this is considered to be the right momentum to disseminate information on the one-hour without gadget movement.

"We are being inseparable with our gadgets. Therefore, we formulate this movement ahead of National Children's Day," Warsito remarked.

He believes that the National Children's Day commemoration also provides momentum for creating a more inclusive environment, especially for children with disabilities.

"That is part of our campaign for mental revolution. We also support other activities, including providing education and self-confidence for children with disabilities," he noted.

He then outlined three points emphasized by the National Mental Revolution Movement: mutual cooperation, integrity, and work ethics.

There is also the Indonesia Serve Movement that focuses on independence, service, cleanliness, unity, and order.

Currently, his side is measuring the progress of the Mental Revolution Achievement Index (ICRM) in collaboration with the Statistics Agency (BPS).

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has also issued Presidential Instruction Number 12 of 2016 concerning the National Mental Revolution Movement (GNRM), which mandates the improvement and development of national character by referring to the values of work ethics, mutual cooperation, and integrity.

GNRM is included as a national priority program to encourage human resource development to support the vision of Advanced Indonesia and Golden Indonesia 2045.
