Jakarta (ANTARA) - Gerindra Executive Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said his side is awaiting the National Awakening Party (PKB) to join the next government under the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka leadership term.

"The entire Indonesian nation needs us. Therefore, in the future, PKB, Gerindra, and all parties must be together. As I have said, we held an old love. We are waiting for PKB to join the government with us," he stated.

Speaking at PKB's 26th anniversary here, Tuesday evening, Dasco said he attended this commemorative event on behalf of Prabowo Subianto, who could not attend personally due to an overseas state duty.

President-elect Prabowo and his deputy, Gibran, commence their administration shortly after being inaugurated on October 20, 2024.

During the 2024 presidential elections, the Prabowo-Gibran pair was nominated and supported by a coalition of parties, including Gerindra, Golkar Party, Democratic Party, and National Mandate Party (PAN).

Prabowo and his running mate, Gibran, won the presidential race, held simultaneously across the country on February 14, 2024, by gaining 96,214,691 votes (58.59 percent), while their rivals Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar garnered 40,971,906 votes (24.95 percent), and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD secured 27,040,878 votes (16.46 percent).

Shortly after the General Elections Commission (KPU) announced the official election results of both the parliamentary and presidential elections on Wednesday, March 20, NasDem Party chairperson Surya Paloh announced at a press conference in Jakarta that he accepted the official results.

NasDem, PKB, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the Ummat Party supported the Anies-Muhaimin pair, while the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP) and the United Development Party backed the Ganjar-Mahfud camp.

On March 22, President-elect Prabowo Subianto met with NasDem leader Surya Paloh, during which he expressed the public's expectations that the nation's political elites and leaders would get along well after the 2024 General Election concluded.

Prabowo said he was keen that his meeting with Paloh would hold meaning that Indonesia has developed into a nation with a mature democratic system.
