Jakarta (ANTARA) - In response to a viral report of child abuse at a daycare center, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has urged the government to ensure that such centers do not violate regulations.

"The government must ensure staff at daycare have the capacity and knowledge about child care," KPAI member Dian Sasmita said on Wednesday.

Psychologist Kasandra Putranto separately highlighted the rampant cases of child abuse perpetrated by nannies.

She advised parents to vet their daycare center, as the quality of child care influences a child's cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Daycare centers of higher quality can significantly benefit children, for instance, by supporting better social and academic performance.

Earlier, a video showing an influencer and daycare owner abusing a child went viral on social media.

The KPAI is coordinating with the authorities to ensure the case is processed diligently.
