Jakarta (ANTARA) - State Palace, Garuda Palace, and the buildings of coordinating ministries have been readied to support Indonesia's 79th Independence Day ceremony at the new capital Nusantara (IKN).

Acting head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) and Public Works and Public Housing Minister, Basuki Hadimuljono, made the remarks at a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

"We have begun preparing tents and a podium for the ceremony. Based on our review, the State Palace is well-prepared," he informed.

He said that the State Secretariat Ministry will further furnish the State Palace, which stands opposite Garuda Palace, by installing furniture such as desks, chairs, paintings, and lamps.

The furnishing process is expected to conclude before August 17, 2024, he added.

According to Hadimuljono, preparations at Garuda Palace are 99 percent complete, with the installation of loose furniture items still on.

Regarding accommodation for civil servants attending the ceremony, he said that the government has prepared seven towers belonging to coordinating ministries located near the ceremonial ground within the National Axis area.

"Everything has been readied, such as electricity, water, and toilets. All will cater to the needs of civil servants," he added.

Furthermore, he noted that Plaza Seremoni (Ceremonial Plaza), which is also located within the National Axis area, could accommodate a gathering of four thousand people during the Independence Day celebration.

"Mr. President demands that Plaza Seremoni serve as a venue for art performances on August 17," he said.

He added that a gallery displaying products of micro, small, and medium enterprises will also enliven the Independence Day celebration.

A reflection night is scheduled to take place for the first time on the eve of Independence Day at Kusuma Bangsa Park of Nusantara city.
