Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah and Jordan Ambassador to Indonesia, Sudqi Atallah Abdel Qader Al Omoush, discussed the placement of Indonesian migrant workers through the One-Channel Placement System (SPSK) in Jakarta on Thursday.

They discussed the reopening of the placement scheme, previously carried out with Saudi Arabia, according to a statement from the Manpower Ministry.

"The Indonesian government has given the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on SPSK between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia to the Jordanian government to be used as a reference for creating an MoU between Indonesia and Jordan in the field of employment," Fauziyah remarked.

She said that Indonesia has placed its skilled migrant workers in many countries and regions, including Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and others, through four placement schemes.

The four schemes are government-to-government cooperation, private-to-private scheme, inter-corporate transfer, and individual or independent placement.

Fauziyah said that the government has emphasized that Indonesian workers in their respective placement countries must have skills in line with their job field and get certified for jobs in the formal sector.

She expressed hope that Thursday's meeting will bring new momentum to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of employment, including cooperation in the expansion of job opportunities.

"I believe that under the leadership of Ambassador Sudqi Attallah Al Omoush, support and cooperation between Indonesia and Jordan can run smoothly and provide benefits to the two countries," she stated.
