"Let us start buying and using domestically made products rather than merely stating love and support for such goods. I am currently wearing a pair of Indonesia-made shoes. You can use this as an example," he told residents in South Lampung District, Lampung Province, on Friday.
While addressing high school students, Hasan highlighted the need for Indonesian people to change their habits by purchasing and using local products that will genuinely support the growth of Indonesian businesses, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"It is important to get yourself accustomed to buying local products. There are exceptions to the types of goods that have not been produced in Indonesia. However, you should prioritize locally made products if available," he told the students.
The minister then underlined that the quality of domestically produced goods is comparable to that of imported branded products.
"Indonesia-made products are of high quality and are not inferior to imported ones," he affirmed.
Hasan affirmed that the government had been promoting the Use of the Domestic Products (P3DN) policy, including by implementing Government Regulation No. 29 of 2018 and Presidential Regulation No. 12 of 2021, to build a sense of love and pride among people for local goods.
The two regulations push ministries and agencies to prioritize the procurement of domestic products and services.
In 2023, government institutions in Lampung Province made the most of the Direct Procurement System (SIBELA) to procure 500 packages of goods and services offered by MSMEs and cooperatives, with the transaction value totaling Rp25 billion (US$1.5 million).
Meanwhile, according to the latest data released on June 4 this year, the total value of domestic product procurement in the province had hit Rp575 billion (US$35.5 million).
