Jakarta (ANTARA) - The ASEAN Plus Cadet Sail (APCS) is expected to serve as an activity that facilitates Indonesian navy cadets to broaden their network, Governor of the Indonesian Navy's (TNI AL's) Academy Rear Admiral Supardi stated.

"In the APCS, they (TNI AL) cadets can establish a network with cadets coming from around the globe. Thus, once they are inaugurated as commissioned officers, they will have already forged a bond," he remarked while greeting APCS participants in Jakarta on Saturday.

Speaking at the Military Sealift Command (Kolinlamil) Headquarters, Supardi noted that the APCS, being held aboard TNI AL's vessel KRI Bima Suci, brings together navy cadets from Asia, Australia, America, and Europe.

The ship arrived in Jakarta after setting sail from Surabaya, East Java, on August 1. According to the plan, it will reach Singapore on August 6.

The sail provides the cadets with an opportunity to interact, exchange information, and collaborate in navigational training activities.

Supardi remarked that such a sail could result in harmonious ties among the international cadets who will serve the navy of their respective countries in the future.

"By the time of their graduation, they (cadets) will already have established a network that facilitates them to cooperate at the global level," he stated.

On the same occasion, Commander of Kolinlamil Rear Admiral Krisno Hutomo made similar statements while expressing hope that the TNI AL cadets would make the most of the APCS to obtain valuable knowledge and foster friendship with their international counterparts.

The APCS draws participation from 189 TNI AL cadets and 32 foreign cadets coming from Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Timor-Leste, Australia, Chile, China, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, and Turkey.
