"If it runs according to the plan, we will test ART in the small loop on August 10," the ministry's Director General of Railways Risal Wasal confirmed here on Tuesday.
To support this trial, Wasal said that his side has been testing internal aspects, such as infrastructure, facilities, and human resources, in the new capital city.
"The internal side trial is expected to complete on August 9 at the latest," he added.
The small loop will pass through the Kemenko 3 - Kemenko 2 - Kemenko 3 route inside the government core area.
The trial will be conducted for two months and will be showcased to the public from October 10 to December 31.
IKN is rapidly progressing its transportation infrastructure with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation.
Beside the ART, other key developments in electric vehicles and public transportation include electric buses, which are being introduced as the primary mode of public transportation.
IKN is also testing flying taxis or drones for passenger transportation as part of the plan to position itself as a global model for sustainable and advanced urban transportation.
IKN will host the ceremony marking Indonesia's 79th Independence Day for the first time, which will be chaired by President Joko Widodo on August 17.
