"Through this exhibition, we, in Jakarta, can at least catch a glimpse of what the IKN is and how it looks," he remarked while inaugurating the expo titled "Let's Go to Nusantara!" at Ismail Marzuki Park on Thursday.
As acting head of the IKN Authority (OIKN), Hadimuljono underlined that Indonesia is not new to the discourse on the relocation of its capital city, as evidenced by the temporary transfer from Jakarta to Yogyakarta in 1946.
Fast-forward to 2019, President Joko Widodo decided to push for permanent relocation by developing a new city in East Kalimantan.
The minister noted that the development of IKN is partly meant to showcase Indonesia's culture with new buildings.

"Nusantara's State Palace and Garuda Palace are being built as a symbol of our independence since our old palaces were built by the (Dutch) colonial power. At IKN, we are developing (new palaces) to display our own culture," he remarked.
He also highlighted that scores of people are keen to see the new capital city for themselves.
On the same occasion, Secretary of the State Secretariat Ministry Setya Utama explained that the exhibition is essentially being held to introduce the appeal of national archives to people and build their awareness about the presence of the nation's documentary heritage.
He expressed hope that the exhibition, which will be held until August 20, 2024, would also help people to more fully grasp the ideas surrounding the plan and implementation of the capital city relocation in a more detailed manner.
