Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring the case of an Indonesian citizen fatally stabbed by a fellow Indonesian in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Sunday (August 4).

Judha Nugraha, the ministry's director for citizen and legal entity protection, stated that the Indonesian Consulate General in New York is cooperating with local police on the investigation.

"Indonesian Consulate General in New York is also assisting the victim's family with repatriating her body and overseeing the legal proceedings," he said at a press conference here on Friday.

Local authorities will conduct an autopsy on the victim's body, identified with the initials RA, before repatriating her body to Tangerang, Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator, identified with the initials LFP, is recovering from a leg wound.

Both individuals arrived in the U.S. on tourist visas last August but subsequently began working there.

While they shared a residence, their relationship is still under investigation.

Local media reported the stabbing of a 55-year-old woman in South Philadelphia.

Police believe the incident occurred within a home and have detained one person for questioning.
